Smart Construction Retrofit: Basic Intro and How to Order

Introduction: Smart Construction Retrofit is a locally installed kit that can be ordered through the Komatsu Parts Portal. These kits are intended for field installation on excavators. These kits provide 3D guidance and payload monitoring to new and existing Komatsu standard excavators:

- The 3D machine guidance kits will be updated as small, medium, and large kits.

- The payload monitoring (PLM) kit is a separate kit.

For customers who want both features, the 3D machine guidance and payload monitoring kit, two separate kits should be ordered and installed on the machine. The option to purchase only the 3D machine guidance kit without the payload monitoring system is now available. However, the PLM kit cannot be ordered as a standalone kit without the 3D machine guidance kit at this time.

Target Machines: To order Retrofit kits please order the following kit part numbers depending on the model of excavator the kit is intended to be installed on.

3D Machine Guidance Kit & PLM Kit Ordering: All 3D machine guidance kits along with the payload monitoring kits are available through the parts channel. The exact part numbers pertaining to applicable machines are listed in the table above.

Installation Overview: Installation of kits remains largely unchanged; that is, Smart Construction Retrofit is a field locally installed by Komatsu Distributor. Each field kit will consist of brackets, harnesses, IMU’s and GNSS controllers, etc. Please refer to the installation manual for more details. The installation and operation manuals can be found on the Komatsu Global Portal / Smart Construction Community Page.

Smart Construction Pilot App (operator interface software) should still be downloaded via the Google Play
Store.

Additional locally sourced parts are required to complete the system

The distributor or customer must supply the following:

•Tablet (android operating system support only), tablet mount, charging cables.

•Mobile router

•Additional external UHF and 915SS radio, if a customer uses a local base station.

•SIM Card with data plan required, only if a customer is using an RTN(Real Time Network / VRS)
